Abstract
Æsop was a storyteller who was freed from slavery because of his wit and cleverness. Æsop told simple tales which always had a moral or "sharp point." While his stories were told to adults, because he used animals as the main characters, Æsop's fables came to be considered children's stories. This collection of over 300 tales is based on the nineteenth century research and translation of Reverend George Townsend, and returns the fables to the adult audience for which the fables were intended. The familiar stories are there, as well as dozens of lesser-known fables
